Keeping my psoas stretched while working at my desk?
Would kneeling (balancing) on a yoga ball while working at my desk help me keep my psoas stretched? I am having a bunch of problems ranging from leg pain, lower back pain, and abdominal pain to testicular pain. My sport’s doctor (after two years of MRIs, x-rays and tons of discomfort), has come up with the diagnosis that my psoas is way too tight and needs to be stretched out. He contributes most of the problem to me spending over ten hours a day on my ass. So, I need to come up with a scheme to keep it stretched at all times while at my desk.
The psoas is one of your core muscles, & balancing on a stability ball works your core muscles, meaning it stimulates them and causes them to constantly contract. This would be the exact opposite of what you’re trying to accomplish.
That being said, the psoas are a tricky muscle to stretch. I don’t believe there is a way to keep it constantly stretched, but you may want to find some stretching techniques & spend a few minutes every evening loosing it up…if you have the time/money, taking yoga classes may not be a bad idea either.
