Abdominal Pain Enteritis

Could someone please tell me what the CT Scan means? Do I have Chrohns Disease?

I have had severe abdominal pains for the last 5 days. I went to the ER because the pains were so bad, I could not handle it anymore. I had a CT Scan and I was hoping someone could explain the following to me:

1. Mild Prominence of proximal jejunum with assocaited gas fluid levels. No discrete transition point. Consider mild proximal ileus or enteritis.

2. Minimal fluid in the dependent pelcis within physiolic limits.

I just wondered what these two meant??? Does this mean I have Chrons disease????

I am very worried it is something major. The doctor referred me to a gastric doctor…
Obviously I will ask my own doctor when I se ehim this week, I was just wondering what this meant, as I was going through the paper works from the ER and saw the report. I will ask my doctor, but hoped someone on here could calm my fears!!!!!!!

The Jejunum is the middle part of you small intestine. If it is prominent on a CT scan, it means that it may be swollen, or distended (blown up like a balloon).

Gas-fluid levels means just that. There is both gas and fluid in the bowel that have layered out with gravity. This is a sign that intestine is not functioning properly.

A transition point is an area where diseased bowel changes to normal bowel. A sharp (or discreet) transition would point to a physical bowel obstruction (something actually pinching or blocking the bowel.) The lack of a discreet transition points to a “Functional” bowel obstruction.

Ilius and Enteritis are two common types of functional bowel obstructions. An Ilius is when the motility, or peristaltic motion of the bowel stops for no apparent reason. These usually have no underlying disease process, and will resolve on there own.

Enteritis is an infection in the intestine, and can be caused by a number of things. Crohn’s disease is a type of enteritis caused by your immune system attacking your own body. Crohn’s usually doesn’t occur in the jejunum, but further along the bowel near the appendix. Although it is still possible, if the CT scan showed a strong suspicion, the report should have suggested it.

Dependent fluid in the pelvis means free fluid in your body not contained in any organ. It is usually a sign of some disease in the surrounding tissues, but small “physiologic” amounts are considered normal. In your case, it is probably a result of the bowel condition, but is not large enough to be concerning.

Right Sided Abdominal Pain Cramping

diarrhea, constipation, abdominal pain/ cramps on right side, and stomach pain . whats wrong?

i’ve been to doctors and had mutiple test done.
they are still looking for answers.

Sounds like irritable bowel but I would think that would be first symptom they would deal with. But if it continues to hurt and not getting answers fast enough, call the doctor and tell them it is still hurting. Good luck.

Severe Abdominal Pain Virus

My mom is really sick and I am hoping someone can give me some idea of whether it’s a virus…etc?

Here are the symptoms
1. Wide spread abdominal pain
2. vomiting
3. severe weakness (really can’t move)
4. Looks very pale
5. slight fever

These are the top 5 worst symptoms. Now, please don’t give me nonsense. I need a answer with some facts to it up. Also I fully understand that a doctor would be the best to consult but I want first opinion. Thanks for any help you can offer.
